Al Fresco Furniture.

It's Springtime in Washington, DC. I am anxiously awaiting the long days of Summer, although I do love the blooming trees, the daffodils, hyacinth and daily allergy symptoms that come with the arrival of Spring. I am just a bit more partial to the unbearably humid and sometimes torrid days of summer. I tend to get a spectacular feeling running out of my front door in a T-shirt, khaki shorts and flip-flops, sans a jacket. Another Most Excellent thing about summer is outdoor dining or special "Al Fresco" moments... Which brings me to some of my favorite outdoor furniture pieces for 2008. They are hugely design driven and bound to make quite the statement placed on any outdoor patio, putting green, deck or overlooking the breakers of the Atlantic Ocean.

Select pieces of furniture shown here may be found at http://www.curranonline.com

All other furniture collections are from Richard Schultz. I have been fond of Richard Schultz's outdoor furniture designs for many years now. The pieces here are from their "1966 Collection". I absolutely love the retro modern design. New for 2008, Richard Schultz has added an outdoor rocking chair to the 1966 Collection. How fun!

The company's rich history began with Richard Schultz's long involvement in modern furniture design, sculpture and art. All of their furniture relates to a deep interest in sculptural form and its relation to nature and man.

Bring on the heat!

Love this chair! It's also stackable. "Isis" chair from Curran

Reminiscent of Eames-era modernism, Lister's "Palms" collection is destined to become a design classic. Pressure-molded teak slats create gracefully contoured (and comfortable) seating. From Curran. (Lounge chair shown at top of blog entry)
